We Fish Florida So You Don’t Have to Guess
Florida has over 8,000 miles of coastline, 7,700 lakes, and more fishable water than just about anywhere on Earth. That’s the good news. The bad news? Figuring out where to go, what to throw, and who to trust can be overwhelming — especially if you’re visiting or just getting started.
That’s why we built Florida’s Best Fishing.
We’re a team of Florida-based anglers who spend our weeks on the water testing gear, riding along with charter captains, and chasing everything from redfish on the flats to sailfish in the Gulf Stream. Then we come back and write about it — honestly.
What We Do
Charter Reviews — We don’t just list charters. We book them, fish with the captain, and give you the real story — what the boat looks like, whether the captain puts you on fish, how they handle beginners vs. experienced anglers, and whether the trip is worth the money. Every review includes pricing, photos, and a straight-up recommendation.
Gear Reviews — Every rod, reel, and lure we review gets tested in Florida conditions. That means saltwater, blazing sun, sandy hands, and actual fish. We’ll tell you what works, what breaks, and what’s worth your hard-earned money.
Weekly Fishing Reports — Every week we publish a fishing report covering what’s biting across Florida. We break it down by region, species, and technique so you know exactly what to expect before you hit the water.
How-To Guides — Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced angler looking to learn a new technique, our guides cover everything from rigging basics to advanced sight-fishing strategies.
Species Guides — Detailed guides on every major game fish in Florida — how to find them, what they eat, seasonal patterns, and the best tackle to use.
Our Promise
We keep it honest. If a charter isn’t worth the money, we’ll tell you. If a $30 reel outperforms a $300 one, we’ll tell you that too. We don’t accept payment for reviews, and our gear recommendations are based on real-world fishing — not spec sheets.
Some of the links on our site are affiliate links, which means we earn a small commission if you buy something through them. This doesn’t cost you anything extra and it helps us keep the lights on and the boat in the water. We only recommend gear and services we actually use and trust.
Coverage Areas
We cover all four major fishing regions in Florida:
- Tampa Bay & Gulf Coast — Inshore flats, nearshore reefs, and offshore Gulf fishing
- Florida Keys — Flats fishing, backcountry, reef, and bluewater
- Southeast Coast (Palm Beach to Miami) — Sailfishing, inshore, and freshwater peacock bass
- Panhandle & Emerald Coast — Red snapper, inshore, pier fishing, and surf
